How to use Hand Profilers

With DAMO Hand Profilers, an operator with little or no fabrication skills can easily create a perfect edge profile of Ogee, Bullnose, Bevel or Roundovers. The DAMO Profilers may be used on the materials as follows: Granite, Engineered Stone, Porcelain, Marble and Limestone. Can be used on concrete also, but life will be short due to the abrasive nature of concrete.

DAMO Profilers can be used on any polishers or grinders with 5/8"-11 threaded spindles. A center water-feed polisher with 3500 RPM is recommended for the application. Maximum RPM is 4000. Adopting the latest “Vacuum Brazed Technology”, our profilers give you aggressive grinding action and longevity, without losing the shape of the profile, unlike the Sintered profilers on the market.

Press nylon guide down firmly on top of material and turn on polisher. Always apply sufficient downward pressure to prevent Nylon guide from spinning. (Nylon Guide should not "Spin Freely" during operation). Purpose of nylon guide is to assure the Profiler remains at the proper height so the profiled edge remains straight. The ball bearing/rotary touch within the Profiler will control the depth of grinding action to ensure the profiled edge remains straight and consistent. Application is complete when the operator can no longer hear grinding noise, and runoff water is clear.

How to use Polishing Pads

Shape the edge of the stone using a DAMO Hand Profiler, or a DAMO Router Bit.

DAMO wet pads and metal pads are designed to be used on a center water-feed polisher. This tool distributes water evenly on the disc. Optimal polishing speed is around 3,000 RPM for most granite counter tops. Engineer stone polishing may best work at a lower 2000 RPM. Do not try to run on high-speed machines that run above 4,000 RPM which will cause the disc to burn the stones.

Connect a DAMO Back Holder to the polisher, and attach a DAMO Polishing Pad to the back holder, switch on the center water-feed, you are ready to start the polishing.

While moving a spinning pad up and down, the fabricator moves the polisher across and back over the stone edge. After each step, you should make sure the area is smooth and there are no grinding marks or saw cut marks left over from the previous grit, then move to the next step. Polish with the DAMO polishing pads: 50 100 200 400 800 1500, and 3000 Grits in order. Do not skip any grits.

Choose DAMO Black Buff Pad for dark colored stones and White for light colored stones. Wet the workpiece and run the buff pad semi-wet with very low water for lubrication to generate heat. When the water is consumed, the process is complete. Repeat as necessary to improve the luster and achieve the best results.

DAMO Dry Polishing Pads are designed for use on job sites without using water. Just like using the wet pads, the operator moves the dry pads across while in up and down motion. It is important to make sure all prior scratches are removed before moving onto another grit. Ware a gauze mask to avoid breathing the dust.

How to use Grinding Wheels

DAMO Turbo Grinding Wheels are designed for profiling edges, smoothing out inside sinkhole cuts, smoothing rough surfaces, preparation of material for lamination and heavy stock removal.

They perform exceptionally aggressive and endurable due to the latest “Vacuum Brazed Technology” and the turbo design. They are the premium choice for any grinding, shaping or beveling work.

They are designed for dry applications but work very well during wet applications. They can be used on most popular high-speed angle grinders with 5/8”-11 threaded spindles.

The coarse type (diamond grits 30/40) is used for aggressive grinding. The medium type (diamond grits 70/80) is for slower grinding action.

Attach the DAMO Grinding Wheel to your high-speed angle grinder.

Always refer to the operation manual of the power tool for correct mounting procedures.

DAMO Flat Grinding Wheels are designed for lightweight grinding and shaping work on marbles and granites. They can be used for cutting application as well. Adopting the “Vacuum Brazed Technology”, they provide fast stock removal with little or no operator fatigue. They are versatile and long lasting.

Available in 4” and 5” size with a coarse or medium grit, DAMO Flat Grinding Wheels fit on most common angle grinders and wet polishers with 5/8”-11 threaded spindles. They can be used wet or dry.

How to use Dry Core Bits

DAMO Dry Core Bits are designed for use on the job site without using water. When an installer has to make an additional hole or two, they cannot use water since the stone is already installed and using water will be difficult and costly due to the time consuming clean-up. Although these core bits are designed for dry use, wet cutting is recommended whenever possible.

Attach the DAMO Dry Core Bit onto your high-speed angle grinder by threading it onto the 5/8”-11 spindles. Mark the location of holes that need to be drilled. Use a template as a guide on the stone in order to avoid any mistakes during drilling process. Clamp a piece of stone scrap under the stone being core drilled to prevent excessive chipping or “blowout” on the back side of the stone. Proceed with drilling, pressing steadily until the dry core bit drills through the stone. When drilling multiple holes, cool off the dry core bit by dipping it in cool water after each drilled hole.

When you drill a hole freehand, it’s better to rock the power tool in a circular motion. Doing so will enlarge the size of the hole and maintain good cutting action of the diamond segments.

Sometimes the stone plug remains stuck inside the core bit. To remove it, tap onto the core bit while it’s mounted on the tool with a wrench.

How to use Contour Blades

Mount the Contour Blade onto your wet stone cutter or high-speed angle grinder. A total of three passes should be used to cut 3cm (1-1/4”) thickness material. On the first pass you need to score the material 1/8” from the drawn template hole making sure you are scoring inside the template hole. On the second pass you should cut half-way through the material, and, on the third pass the blade should be cutting completely through the material. Due to the manual operation, we recommend cutting 1/8” inside of mark of sink template to ensure good results. Always refer to the operation manual of the power tool for correct mounting procedures.

Although these contour blades are designed for dry use, wet cutting is recommended whenever possible to prolong the life as well as keep harmful dust out of the air.

Before you start using this product, we recommend practicing on scrap material to learn the necessary techniques required for the curve cutting application. This practice will make your cutting safer and enable successful results.

We recommend using the DAMO Hand Profiler Z-Series after you cut a sink hole. The curve cutting application leaves a curved cut surface from the design of the contour blade. The Profilers Z will clean up this leftover material to create a perfect 90 degree surface.

To avoid dropping the cut-out on your feet, always secure the projected cut-out area before starting cutting operation.

Do not use contour blades on high-speed angle grinders without the safety guard installed. Always wear personal safety equipment when cutting.

How to use Dry Turbo Blades

DAMO Dry Turbo Blades are recommended to be used on high-speed angle grinders or stone cutters rated for your blade diameter being used. For example, 5” diameter blade will fit the 125mm wet stone cutters or 5” angle grinders. When mounting the blade onto the power tool, make sure the blades rotation direction matches the spindle’s. Do not use a slow RPM power tool, it will cause the blade’s cutting edge to become out-of-round or create premature wear on the blade.

DAMO Dry Turbo Blades can be used to cut tile, brick, block, concrete, slate and natural stone, and achieve superior results on granite.

Use of water will prolong the life of the dry cutting blade as well as eliminate the dust.

We recommend the step cutting method to prolong the life of the diamond blade. While cutting thick material, back off frequently to cool off the blade and prevent over-heating. Use flanges and adapters which are specifically made for your power tool. Always refer to the operation manual of the power tool for correct mounting procedures.

Always make sure the power tool’s safety guard is mounted onto the tool. If the blade doesn’t fit with the safety guard on the tool, you’re probably using the wrong size power tool.

The cutting edge rim height is 8mm. Bore size is 7/8" to 5/8" with washer, with/without four pin holes.

Always wear personal safety equipment when cutting.

How to use Router Bits

Adopting the latest “Vacuum Brazed Technology”, DAMO Premium Router Bits are the best bits on the market. Compared with the sintered router bits, they achieve a longer life and have much faster profiling on granites of all hardness and all brands of engineered stone and quartz surfaces. They will not lose their shape after a period of using unlike the sintered router bits.

DAMO Economy Router Bits are much cheaper than the Premium Router Bits. They are cost-effective for fabricators who wish to speed up the profiling. The Economy Vacuum Brazed Router Bits have been proven to grind in half the time of Premium Router Bits in most cases. They never lose their shape during shaping process.

Both M8 and M10 bolts are provided to fit all standard portable stone routers. They are available in most popular edges' shapes, such as A, B, E, F, V. Contact us if you ask for a special custom shape.

Cut the workpiece to size.

Attach the DAMO Router Bit onto your portable router.

Adjust the height of the router bit to desired position for edge you are creating.

Adjust the water spray nozzles to assure that proper lubrication coolant is being supplied to the router bit.

Start your project.

Always refer to the owner’s manual for proper usage and attachment of accessories onto the power tool.

The ball bearing/rotary touchier within the Router Bits controls the depth of grinding during the application to ensure the final profiled edge will be straight. Note: Profiling is complete when you no longer hear grinding noises and the runoff water is clear.

When changing router bits on your router, always test on a scrap piece of material to assure wheel is adjusted properly for the edge design you are going to grind
